Principal's Message:

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I am honored and excited to begin my third year as the proud principal of Memorial. Each year brings new opportunities for growth, and I remain deeply committed to building on the strong foundation together.

Memorial continues to move forward with momentum—thanks to the unwavering support of our families, the dedication of our staff, and the strength of our community partnerships. I am eager to see the continued progress we will make together this year.

To our returning families: welcome back! We’ve missed our students and can’t wait to have their energy and enthusiasm back in our halls.

To our new families: welcome to the Memorial community! We are thrilled to have you join us and look forward to getting to know you.

Principal Bio

Ms. Angela Lavergne is a proud graduate of Houston ISD schools and a lifelong advocate for public education. She earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Texas Southern University and went on to receive a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.

 

With 27 years of experience in education, Ms. Lavergne brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to her role. She has taught 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades, and proudly served as an assistant principal for 10 years before stepping into the principalship. Now in her third year as principal of Memorial Elementary, she is committed to fostering a nurturing and academically rigorous environment where every child can thrive.

 

Ms. Lavergne values strong partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community and believes in the power of collaboration to support student success. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that all children can achieve greatness when given the right tools, support, and encouragement.
